Wedding Trends: 2012

Saturday, December 31st, 2011

As a new year approaches so do new wedding trends! If these trends are anything to go by, 2012 is going to be a great year for weddings!

Vintage-

It is the year of something old! Whether it is Victorian or Old Hollywood, look for more and more vintage touches on weddings from the venue to the dress.  Unique spaces that take you back in time will be very popular this year, think old banks, new deal buildings, etc. Think of depression glass or vintage floral china patterns and of course lace to incorporate into table settings.

Vintage isn’t all about the look of the wedding though, it’s about family as well.  Whether it’s a display of old wedding photos from the bride and groom’s parents and grandparents or a family tradition that is incorporated into the ceremony or the reception, family will be making a big statement in 2012.

DIY

Look for an abundance of DIY weddings and brides this year.  Whether it is making their own invitations, centerpieces, table numbers or favors, brides are becoming more budget conscious and more crafty.   Need some DY inspiration?  Check out sites like pinterest for some help and ideas!

Desserts

Look for a focus on desserts this year, other than just the traditional wedding cake and groom’s cake, couples are branching out into their favorite desserts, be it cookies, pies, cupcakes, or whoopie pies.  Remember this Hall of Springs wedding that created their favorite pastry shop at their wedding?

Pets

Incorporating beloved pets into the wedding will be big this year with many couples having their dog act as their ring bearer or flower girl!

Natural and Local

There will be a push this year to use accents from nature in the forms of birch for centerpieces, recycled paper, etc.  With a focus on locally sourced products, nature and moving towards the green movement is starting to catch on in the wedding industry.  One of the best ways to do this is through your menu- check out farm to fork menus that focus on local and sustainable!

Weddings in 2012 will focus on romance, simple and elegant affairs that will stand the test of time.

Nicole and Robert were married at The Glen Sanders Mansion on October 16th, 2011.  Casey Connell Photography captured some amazing images on a beautiful fall day!

I love these first look photos, they are so cute!

Nicole and Robert had their ceremony in the lobby and the ballroom was beautifully decorated for fall.

Robert is an avid golfer and a groom’s cake is a great way to make him feel special!

DJ Vinny always lives up to his name of Non Stop Music.

Congratulations Nicole and Robert!

Real Wedding Spotlight: Danielle & Matt

Danielle and Matt had a beautiful, albeit rainy wedding day at The Hall of Springs on October 1st, 2011.

Clark and Walker Studios took all of these great shots in downtown Saratoga, I love the way they came out!

The ballroom at The Hall of Springs looked goregous! For the fall, trees and bright colors are beautiful!

Bigler Productions captured the whole thing in video, what a great day!

Congratulations Danielle and Matt!

Real Wedding Spotlight: Ashley & Brian

Thursday, December 22nd, 2011

Ashley and Brian were married at Key Hall at Proctors on November 19th, 2011.

When Ashley and Brian chose their date, they based what was available on the availability of Joe Elario Photography, but none of us had any idea that it would be the same day as Schenectady’s Annual Christmas Parade! Luckily Big Joe and J.P. worked their magic and got the most amazing images!

I love this first look, they are such a cute, genuine couple!

The ballroom looked gorgeous with flowers by Ambiance Florals.

Music Man Mike Garassi helped introduce our bridal party through the vault at key hall.

I helped with this ring shot and I love it! The Key Hall vault is such a unique space.

With Proctor’s Theatre right next door, the marquis is the ideal spot for photos at night!

Congratulations Ashley and Brian!
